We had the sweetest send-off from about ten of our precious Karen friends and family at the Boise airport, and had a remarkably smooth, un-Fishburne-like journey here-- no disasters or even close calls...yet.
Our flight made it in VERY early this morning, and we were able to grab a few hours of sleep in a not-too-sketchy room. Our flights were very long, and it's great to be able to breathe fresh air this morning that isn't laced with jet fuel. I underestimated the length of our flight legs by quite a bit--we were in the air for a total of about 20 hours, plus quite a few more spent at airports and sitting on planes on the tarmac. We kept trying to imagine how our Karen friends felt on their way to the US--it must have been terrifying and so exhausting. They are amazing!
But we are here, and it'll be a good three weeks before we have to do it again (hopefully long enough to forget a bit).
