...and we're (almost) off!!

Well, we're heading to Thailand. In less than two days. Here's how the packing is coming along:

The essentials...like rock climbing shoes, caribeaners and mosquito repellant. Everyone's happy!
Oh, how Josh we love Excel spreadsheets.

My goal was to have almost everything ready to pack by the time Josh flies in this afternoon (minus all of his laundry that has to be unpacked, then washed, then repacked). Things were right on track(ish) until I found a little owl caught in the mesh over the chicken coop. Three hours (and about five panicked phone calls to my dad the super vet!) later, the owl is free, delivered to and from the local birds of prey rehab expert, proclaimed healthy, released and off to take a nap. I'm no closer to being ready to go, but rarely do my days go the way I've planned!

The tentative game plan as of today, is to fly into Bangkok, travel up to Chiang Mai (where we hope to meet with folks from Partners and Free Burma Rangers), then to Mae Sot and the Mae La refugee camp. We're praying that we are allowed to enter, able to stay in the refugee camp, and will be able to meet some of the families of Karen folks we know and love here in Boise. We're really excited! Five of our Karen friends from Boise are already back in Mae La camp for a visit; it will be great to meet up with them and they are eager to show us where they came from. Our hope is that we will be able to update this blog with photos and info as we travel over the next three weeks. Check back for updates...we'll post when we can! :)
